Our heart for every woman who enters our class is for her – you – to be increasingly strong and courageous. We want you to be able to take care of yourself in any and every situation so you can go home safe every night.
We can’t afford to self-medicate negative emotions away with alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, food, video gaming, and social media. You name it – most of us know where our weaknesses lie. We realize we need to face those difficult emotions somehow or other, perhaps through therapy or other means. We must be honest and deal with whatever’s going on, including our feelings.
There’s nerve (thinking outside the box – seeing ordinary objects as weapons), and there’s the will (following through on using improvised weapons to stop an attacker). But, of course, we also need the training to ensure we get the desired results.
At first blush, all this seems like an almost academic exercise. But practically speaking, it comes down to whether or not you want to be prepared to face whatever comes, including detecting someone’s intention so you don’t get caught by surprise. We want to detect a threat early on to take charge of ourselves and the situation before it gets out of hand.
That’s all well and good, but here’s the thing. We live in an increasingly unpredictable world, where we can so easily get confused and disoriented if something comes at us seemingly out of nowhere. If we misjudge how close that car is or whether or not we can escape the guy coming at us, or whatever situation could conceivably arise in this crazy world – we could end up seriously injured. Or worse.
At Tigress’ Roar, we welcome you into a group that’s been there, done that, and continues to learn and grow. We’re doing something most wouldn’t even attempt because it seems too hard. But we’re on a journey together, offering encouragement when someone gets confused or frustrated or wants to give up. Realizing we can’t do this alone, we link arms and move forward together. Because it’s just that important, and we know it.
